April showers bring...May moving boxes?

Have you noticed that Spring is the time of year where change happens for a lot of people? It’s something in the air, something in the changing of the seasons that brings out some new ideas, new goals…a new spring in your step if you will. And many times that goal is a new home for growing families. Just thinking about moving brings out so many different emotions…excitement for something new and bigger and better than you have now…but then a little hesitation on whether you can really pull it off. There are so many things to consider and so many decisions to be made you will need someone to walk you through the process…and that is where a Realtor comes in.

Many times you ask your friends and family who they used…who they can refer you to. But don’t just agree to use someone because they once helped your sister buy a home or your neighbor got a great deal with them…do a little more homework first. You want to make sure that you are hiring an agent who will do what is best for your family, who will work hard for you, who will be honest and open with you about the entire transaction. Just like you wouldn’t go and buy the very first car you test drive…you want to talk with a few different agents and get to know each one before making a decision. If you are a buyer then you can discuss lenders, neighborhoods, schools, future goals for your family and what a house will mean for you. If you are a seller, have them over for a listing presentation, see what they can do for you to help you get you the best buyers through your door.  Ask for a comparative market analysis, about their marketing plans, about open houses, about staging, about inspectors, about fees. Ask them to show you everything that they can do to make your experience the best home buying or selling experience you will have. And when you find the right person you will know it…and guess what? You WILL have the best experience ever!
